MLK Day of Service 2024

Palm Beach Atlantic University and the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County have come together to pay tribute to the life and legacy of the great civil rights leader, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
This annual day of service is a testament to the enduring impact of Dr. King’s message of equality, justice, and peace. Through their joint efforts, these two organizations are working to promote the values Dr. King championed throughout his life and inspire a new generation of leaders to carry on his work. By honoring Dr. King’s memory in this way, PBA and the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County are helping to ensure that his legacy lives on for generations.
MLK Day of Service has been a tradition at PBA for over a decade and we invite all students, staff, faculty, alumni, friends and family to join.
Morning Opportunities
City of West Palm Beach – Park cleanup
Age Requirement: 16+ welcome, 5-15 must be accompanied with parent/guardian.
CROS Ministries (Boynton Beach and Eastern Belle Glade) – Gleaning produce for local food banks.
Age Requirement (Boynton): 5+ welcome, 5-18 must be accompanied with parent/guardian.
Age Requirement (Belle Glade): 13+ welcome, 13-15 must be accompanied with parent/guardian.
CROS Ministries Warehouse (Lake Worth Beach) – Packaging food to be distributed to food pantries.
Age Requirement: 14+ welcome, 14-15 must be accompanied with parent/guardian.
Feeding South Florida (Boynton Beach)
Age Requirement: 12+ welcome, 12-18 must be accompanied with parent/guardian.
Garden of Hope (Loxahatchee) – Working in Community of Hope Church garden that supports local food distributions.
Age Requirement: 13+ welcome, 13-18 must be accompanied with parent/guardian.
Habitat for Humanity ReStore (Jupiter and Rivera Beach) – Organizing donation at store locations.
Age Requirement: 16+ welcome, 16-18 must be accompanied with parent/guardian.
Packing Projects at Marshall & Vera Lea Rinker Athletic Campus – Various packing projects to support local nonprofits.
Age Requirement: all ages welcome, under 16 must be accompanied with parent/guardian.
Paint Your Heart Out (Location TBD)
Age Requirement: 15+ welcome, 15-18 must be accompanied with parent/guardian.
St. Ann Place (West Palm Beach) – Serving food to the homeless.
Age Requirement: 18+ welcome
Tree of Life Resource Center (West Palm Beach) – Sorting donations to support anyone in need.
Age Requirement: 18+ welcome
Afternoon Opportunities
Big Dog Ranch Rescue (Loxahatchee) – Interacting with dogs and cleaning around the facility.
Age Requirement: 8+ welcome, 8-15 must be accompanied with parent/guardian.
Feeding South Florida (Boynton Beach) – Packing food to be distributed.
Age Requirement: 16+ welcome, under 16 must be accompanied with parent/guardian.
MorseLife (West Palm Beach) – Socializing with senior residents.
Age Requirement: 18+ welcome, 5-17 must be accompanied with parent/guardian.
